MTV Skins Episode Ten: A look back at what went wrong!
This is the American version of the teen drama. It is a adaptation of the British teen drama of the same name. The show premiered on January 17, 2011 on MTV in the U.S. and on Movie Central and The Movie Network in Canada. The original show was created by father-and-son television writers Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain for Company Pictures, and premiered on UK digital channel E4 on January 25, 2007. As with the UK series, the 2011 version features a cast of amateur actors and young writers.
On June 9, 2011, MTV announced that they would not renew Skins for a second season, with a statement that "Skins is a global television phenomenon that, unfortunately, didn't connect with a US audience as much as we had hoped," and I'm here to tell you why!
MTV's Skins is set in Baltimore Maryland and it's filmed in Canada.
Episode Ten: Eura/Everyone
It's finally here, the series finale of MTV's Skins, it has been a long ten weeks. Too long, I'm so glad to be done with this mediocrity. Next week I review Skins Series 5 and I'm so excited to watch that and get the taste of this remake out of my brain grapes. I would of liked to see how they did a generation two with this cast because they would have to turn Eura into a sex symbol and I don't think this girl is cute in anyway. Well maybe like wine she will get better with age.
Tony's parents seem concerned about Tony because he isn't acting normal. Eura strives for attention and takes her shirt off and then pours yogurt on her and her parents don't see her. It then cuts to Cadie playing with a necklace at her therapists and she tells him she dumped her boyfriend and explains this strange story that sounds like a weird movie. He wonders why she tells stories and she says that is why she is there and then he asks her to tell him a story that is 50% true.
It cuts to Eura again, then back to Cadie leaving the therapist. They go to the same guy and he says he is going to work on his reports and if she wants to talk just come in. It cuts to Michelle and Stan, she wonders if he has called Cadie and he says he hasn't but then leaves to do his creativity assignment. I can't tell if they are dating or not. Eura appears and walks to Michelle, she hands her a note from Tony. He wrote the note on the back of a picture of Tea and Michelle tears it up.
Eura cries and runs off as the note is sodden in the water it was tossed into. Eura goes to her brother and he says for her to not come in and Michelle had texted explaining what she did. In her room you can see some writing backwards and that is sort of a shout out to an Unseen Skins were Effy explains that she thinks she was born backwards, I think. I could just be grabbing at straws. Eura then runs away.
Abbud calls Chris because a Realtor is showing off Abbud's house and the lady climbs up to see a naked Chris holding trash and she falls. Tea is then stalking Betty and she is quite pissed about it and wants answers and gets some. It then cuts to Stan playing guitar and singing, terribly. He can't write music and he should just stop, Daisy agrees with me. He needs to pass because he thinks his dad is gonna kill himself because his mom left.
Chris and Abbud then break into Tina's old apartment and Abbud explains that he cares for Daisy and is afraid she will dump him for that. Chris hugs him and they proceed to get drunk. Tea then calls Tony and he acts uninterested and she says she is sorry. He says he loved her and she says she is sorry for doing that. He then gets a text saying 'took ur sista' and 'she's a fighter hahahahaha.' Tony then goes to Eura's room and see's that she is gone.
Tea goes in to visit Betty and she is high and she hates her but she sounds all giddy about it. Betty then says she wants Tea and they cuddle. Stan is watching old videos of himself with Michelle and Tony. Stan gets a call from Tony but ignores it twice and then Cadie messages him on the laptop and she is outside waiting for him. He asks about Warren and then they go back and forth with alliteration answers that start with W. They then kiss as Michelle sees and walks away, awkward. She then gives him a cryptic riddle about finding the ending.
Stan continues to ignore the cellphone and then it cuts to Cadie at her therapists saying that she doesn't know if she can handle the truth. He asks her what is the worst that could happen. She doesn't really have an answer. The Stan opens his door to find Tony, he needs Stan's help to get Eura. He explains why he needs help, then the gang gathers together and it's awkward!
Everyone gets a text with a logo for a club that Chris knows about. They all search for Eura in the club but to no avil. The music and people are too loud. Tony gets in a fight with a couple guys and Tea goes in and breaks some of it up. Michelle walks over to check on Tony and he and Tea are holding hands. On the screen Eura is dancing and stripping, she looks twelve... Tony starts to cry but then he calls his father. His father then drives off, not sure how he will find the place.
Stan walks around and ends up in the VIP section, he is never stopped and he finds Eura just relaxing. All tension disappears. She did it to get him out of bed. This moment is so weird, and it spits in the face of the real drama from the UK Version. Cadie asks him to make a move and express himself, he picks up Eura and brings her to the stage to tell Tony. She gets pulled off stage and he gets knocked down and then Stan sings Shout... uhg not only is this such a bland and lame song, this end is so crap compared to the awesome end of Skins. Tony gets hit by a bus, Sid sings wild world as he realizes he loves Cassie and she spends the night with him before she goes off to Scotland.
This scene also then had these weird angles and such, showing Michelle watch as Stan sings and Cadie sings. Randomly it will show the bottom of his jaw and the top of her head. Michelle stares at Stan like she is falling in love and Stan looks at Cadie like he is falling in love and then he sees Michelle walk away. Tony watches him with envy, Chris sings along and so does Daisy as Cadie crowd surfs. Daisy yells to Abbud that she knows he loves her and walks away. Then we see Tony return home with his sister, not sure how his father found them.
Abbud tries to explain how hard it is to not fall in love with her as he braces himself for being dumped. But she doesn't dump him and they shag. It cuts to tea outside of Betty's room and she goes in, walks away and the comes back and jumps into bed with her. She also strips down to her bra and panties prior to doing so. It then cuts to Tony laying with Eura as she plays with his hair and breaks the fourth wall like effy ddi by staring into the camera. Stan and Chris walk back to Stan's place, he says he can stay as long as he doesn't puke. Michelle then waits at Stan's house.
She wants to know how he feels and he kisses her, I bet Cadie is close by and if you listen to the background you hear the shitty song that Stan wrote but the lyrics are a bit better. More cleaned up and there is a nice melody playing. Cadie doesn't see but Chris does, he tells them to stop boring him and he cheers and it fades to black. The most disappointing thing about this finale, Tony doesn't get hit by a bus.
The music is very good in this one and has some sweet dub step. The story starts off okay but the climax when you find out that Eura did it to get Tony to do something is so meh. Also her voice is a bit whiny, glad she didn't talk much. That is the end of MTV's Skins, if you want to know if Tea and Michelle become friends again or if Tony moves on or if Stan chooses Cadie after a small relationship with Michelle or does he stay with her? Guess what, you will never know. Now go to Netflix or Hulu and watch the UK Skins, now. What are you waiting for!? You have four series to watch before you read my review for series five!
